Senior Assistant Researcher Position to Work on Yeast Fermentation Technology

DESCRIPTION
IMDEA Energy is opening a Senior Research Assistant position for the Biotechnological Processes Unit to work on biofuels and bioproducts production with yeasts from residual streams and alternative carbon sources. We are seeking a highly motivated candidate, capable of driving his/her own research project independently while actively collaborating with other members of the lab.
Tasks Description:
- Valorisation of waste streams for production of biofuels and biochemicals with yeast (mainly non-conventional yeasts);
- Bioreactor cultivation and process optimization;
- Yeast strains improvement via adaptive laboratory evolution and metabolic engineering;
- Supervision and training of predoctoral/postdoctoral researchers;
- Communicate and disseminate research results through high-quality scientific channels including high impact scientific publications, presentation in congresses, etc.;
- Preparation of project proposals to national and international calls;
- Coordination and management of projects.
REQUIREMENTS
Compulsory Requirements:
- PhD degree in Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry, Biotechnology or related areas;
- At least 3 years of post-doctoral experience to the related tasks.
Merits to value:
- Proven expertise on yeast fermentation technology;
- Experience in metabolic engineering of yeast (including non-conventional);
- Experience on bioreactor cultivation;
- International research experience;
- Experience as Principal Investigator of research projects and personal grants;
- Proven experience in the preparation of proposals with public and private funding, mostly those related with the research topic;
- Experience in supervision of Internships, Master Thesis and PhD Thesis;
- Strong publication record. Very good scientific writing skills, ability to write peer-reviewed papers independently;
- Oral and written communication skills in English.
